The Latest on Miss Meg-Meg’s Progress

I’m happy to let you know that since I last wrote about Meg-Meg, she’s really had a great few months. As I type this, she’s outside walking in the cold with her dad! He’s a great dad. :) We just got back from a week long family Christmas vacation to visit my family in Huntsville and Sealy, Texas.  She did

Homemade For the Holidays

I’ve always been a big fan of what I call “Gifts from the Heart”, so this year for Christmas I decided to make most of the gifts for family and friends.  Below are 5 of my favorite gifts I made this year. Bubble Wrap Calendar One of my friends LOVES popping bubble wrap. When I found a “Bubble Wrap Calendar”

Thank You Animal Adventure

For Christmas I really wanted to get Meg a new Boots & Barkley “porcupine” (her favorite toy).  She received one last Christmas from “Santa”, and she loved it.  In fact, it instantly became her favorite toy.  She played and played and played with it, and within about six months, it was time for a new one.  I bought her a

If I Had Only Known

There’s a song I heard for the first time in the sixth grade when we were shown a video by MADD. It’s name, If I Had Only Known.. I have always loved the song. It was, and still is, one of my favorite songs to play on the flute. But over the last two years I have really wondered if

An Update on Meg & Tips for Surviving Canine Chemo

It’s been almost a month since I last wrote, and a lot has changed … for the better!  :) First off, Meg seems to be doing really well.  She’s now only taking chemo every-other-week, and that will continue until almost Christmas.  We attribute the key in her turnaround to Dr. Joanna Pridgen at Wisdom Animal Clinic.  Dr. Pridgen put her

How’s Meg & Other Crazy Questions

I have officially decided the worst question anyone can ask me is, “How’s Meg?”. While I appreciate the genuine concern, the reality is there’s no real good answer. “She’s still dying.” “She’s still got an incurable lymphoma.” “She’s energetic at times but not herself.” Those are all the answers I want to give. They’re the truth. But no one wants

Latest on Meg’s Treatments

It’s amazing how fast time goes by. It’s been almost a month since I first noticed something was wrong with Meg. It feels like it was just yesterday. The good news is she seems to be tolerating this week’s chemo treatment a lot better than she did the others. This week she’s on a chemo pill. We were actually able

Meg’s Progress & Treatment for Canine Lymphoma

Well Meg’s first week of treatment went better than anticipated.  She started chemo on Friday, July 27th, and the vet gave us prescriptions to continue her on Prednisone (upped from 5mg to 15mg a day), and to also treat her for nausea and diarrhea as needed. We only picked up the Prednisone prescription last Friday from the pharmacy, but by

Learning to Live with Canine Lymphoma

Saturday mornings are usually a comical routine around our house.  I want to sleep in, and Meg-Meg, my four-and-a-half year old Cockapoo, wants to get up and play.  In fact, I can usually bet that sometime between 5:45 a.m. and 6:15 a.m. I will be greeted with a sloppy wet pink tongue across my face.  When my eyes finally open,

On the Wings of Love (Our Wedding Day)

On June 30, 2012, Brandon Bell and Tina Baiter got married at the Texarkana Flying Club, located on the grounds of the Texarkana Regional Airport.  We had an aviation themed wedding.  Our guests were greeted by four beautiful stewardesses, who escorted them to their seats.  Just prior to the wedding starting, all of the guests were offered peanuts by the
