When I first started working at HealthCARE Express, my office mate and I would often drive back and forth to our Magnolia, AR clinic together. On our way there, we’d pass a house that just had one zebra in the field. As time went on, the number of zebras began to grow. She loves zebras, so it was always a joke that we were going to stop, and she was going to go out in the field and catch one and pet it.
In 2010 we closed that clinic, and our trips back and forth to Magnolia, AR stopped. Then this month we made a trek to Magnolia to pick up Brandon’s wedding ring. As we passed the “Zebra Ranch” on HWY 82, I took a picture and sent it to Kim. Just a few days later I drew her name as my “Secret Santa” person.
Brandon and I decided the best gift would be a trip to the Zebra Ranch. He made a few phone calls, and the owner of the ranch gladly agreed to give us a tour. We arrived about 5:00 on December 21st, and he shuttled us around the field in his Rhino, telling us about the different animals. At the end of the tour, he let us get close to a Z-Donk (a mixture of a Zebra and a Donkey).
