I started today with this question ⌠âHow often do we find ourselves thankless in this world because we compare ourselves to what others have instead of giving thanks to God for all he has given to us?â
The thought came from our Bible study this week at Trinity Baptist Church which will focus on Psalm 100. Often referred to as a Psalm for Thanksgiving, it is a wonderful reminder of how to give thanks to God.
In todayâs social media driven culture, itâs easy to get trapped into the thought that we arenât perfect enough, we arenât successful enough, we arenât beautiful enough ⌠we just arenât enough.
When we find ourselves trapped in those moments, itâs important to remember we are always enough for God. The sins of pride (comparing to others) and lust (longing for what we donât have) can easily distract us from giving thanks for all God has done for us.
This Psalm gives us 3 great ways to give thanks to God.
1. SHOUT and praise God joyfully. Through your personal testimony, you can let the world know you are proud God is God.
2. SERVE the lord happily. Through acts of service you can draw others to him.
3. ACKNOWLEDGE that you are a child of God! He will always have your best interest at heart because you are his!
As you give thanks to God, not just on Thanksgiving but always, remember He is good, He has a love that endures forever, and He is faithful to us.
This Thanksgiving make a new commitment to spend your life focused on giving thanks to God for all you have, and a commitment to stop living thankless for all you think you donât have.
****PSALM 100:1-5****
A psalm. For giving grateful praise.
1 Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
2 Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.
3 Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.
5 For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.
