Several years ago I set out on a mission with a partner to build a blog business based entirely around teaching other urgent care owners how to grow and run their medical practices. In just a few short years, we had a list of nearly 10,000 subscribers and were making a descent profit.
Then my life took a different direction, and I left blogging behind. But my passion for giving back to the world through the written word never went away. So three months ago, on a whim, I made the decision to start blogging again. When someone said, “Add that to your little tips of wisdom,” I was inspired. My mission was simple…to inspire one person a day to improve somehow using a new tip of wisdom that had helped me find success.
As the days turned to weeks and the weeks into months, my following was anything but impressive to the people who live off of their written words and list building strategies. But I kept writing. And everyday, I would get a few likes here or there on a social media channel. But no comments. It was like having a conversation with myself, unsure if I was inspiring anyone else.
Then it happened. Someone sent me a message on social media that read …
“I love reading your insightful and inspiring posts. Keep up the great work!”
A few days later, someone else wrote …
“I love this blog post. My favorite one so far. I’m going to share this with my team.”
I was making a difference in the world. People were reading my words and using them as teaching tools to inspire others they were leading.
I may only have 2700 followers on LinkedIn, less than 200 on Instagram, and a small social fan base of less than 80 on Facebook, but I’m making a difference in this world.
You can make a difference, too. Just get started doing what you feel called to do.
To the world, I may be just another blogger. But to my small tribe of followers, I may help them change the world.
Thanks to each of you who have made my first three months back in the world of online blogging a success. This is just the beginning for TipsOfWisdom.com.
