Fear and Faith are both contagious. Which are you spreading?
Fear can cause us to act irrational.
In the beginning of Genesis Chapter 12, Abram has complete confidence in his decision to have faith in God’s plan. The more we trust in God, the more he affirms our faith.
But Satan will always try to destroy our confidence. In these moments, we have to lean on our faith.
As Genesis Chapter 12 ends, we see Abram go through a tough trial that causes him to not only lose his confidence, but to also lie and hurt other people.
In a moment where his testimony could have grown stronger, a moment of fear caused him to not only reduce his faith, but it also had the potential to impact the faith of those around him.
What character traits show up during your trials?
Anger, impatience, distrust, anxiety, lying???
These flaws not only hurt us, but they also hurt those around us.
The trials we go through help us recognize our flaws as God is preparing us for the next step He is calling us to do.
So remember that with every trial, there will always be temptation. We have the opportunity to GROW more as a Christian or to FALL more into sin during the trials we face.
Satan knows our character traits and our weaknesses when it comes to how to tempt us, and he will always use them during our trials.
We must recognize that when God sends us trials, it is part of our training to become more like him. Trials come through his grace to help us grow and change into His image.
Just like Abram entered Egypt a man full of hopes and dreams and left as a man fully exposed as a sinner when he let fear outweigh his faith, our sins will also be exposed.
And just like Abram, when our sins are exposed, there are often long term effects. But God always shows us grace when we ask for forgiveness. When everything is on the line, and we take the wrong road, God is there to bring us back.
Never doubt God’s promise for your life in moments of fear. Instead, turn your worry into worship.
