Yesterday was our last full day on the resort, so we made the most of it relaxing in the cool ocean breeze. I told Brandon my favorite thing about the breeze is it serious like a massage of it’s own. It’s amazing to me how it feels cool, despite mixing with the warm sunshine. It’s also neat how the breeze only comes around about 10:00 & goes away when the sun goes down.
One of the main reasons we had to “relax” so much was compliments of a stomach ache that started for me about 10:00 p.m. the night before. The hotel staff brought me something called “Andrew’s Salt” to ease my pain. It was similar to the concept of Alka Seltzer, except it looked like salts in a packet. It quickly fizzed when Brandon put it in the glass of water for me. Within 10 minutes I was feeling better. The next morning at breakfast the man who had brought the medicine to my room came to check on me at my table. The staff here is truly very caring. We have grown fond of many of them.
Prior to getting sick on Wednesday night, we had a beautiful candlelight dinner on the pier at the Italian restaurant. We repeated the dinner there again last night. It is so romantic to watch the sun start setting, listen to the ocean, and finish your dinner under the stars. We even snuck a small bite of food to the stay cat each night (a piece of lamb & an anchovie). Brandon and I both found it funny the cat seemed to know it was an “upscale” restaurant, and he sat with a perfect posture as he waited, without truly begging, at the different tables hoping to get a bite. Sadly, most of his waiting was to no avail.
We didn’t end up watching the dive-in movie on Saturday because I started to fall asleep in my chair by the pool. We had sat down almost 30 minutes early to ensure we had great seats. But little old me is stuck on my early to bed sleep schedule.
Yesterday we ate breakfast at the Coral. I just had a few eggs & some oatmeal. Yummy!! Brandon was, braver & tried some more local dishes from the buffet…including corn beef hash. They have odd things to us at breakfast…like baked beans. And many times fish of some sort appears in something on the buffet.
Brandon was also braver at lunch, trying squid steak, which he described as chewy & rubbery. He’s ate a lot of squid on the island. I just enjoyed local vegetables. My favorite was a fried eggplant with a chile sauce. The sauce was similar to a sweet & sour sauce, with just a hint of spice.
We went snorkeling twice yesterday. Brandon found some neat shells & half of a sand dollar. He also found our small stingray again. He attempted to drop rocks around it to make it swim. Then, being the buzz kill I am, I said, “You do know it can kill you, right?” He stopped, but only because I think he didn’t want me scared. The man is a bit to fearless in the water. I am probably too cautious. We balance each other well.
We also took the Hobie sail boat out twice by ourselves again. Brandon has become quite the sailor of the Caribbean Sea. We now both want our own Hobie to use on Lake Ouachita back home. Time to get rich so we can afford the life we want!!
The nice thing about sailing is it’s relaxing & you’re just totally surrounded by a sea of the most beautiful blue colors, under a sky of blue, with warm sunshine. And you also have a beautiful view of the Jamaican coast, mountains, & the lush green beauty they provide.
Yesterday afternoon we played a few games of Shuffle Board. We don’t really know the rules, but by the rules we guessed at, Brandon won most of the games.
We also relaxed some more in the hammock. We are both in agreement, our backyard will have a hammock…and a pool with a waterfall. Someday that dream WILL come true!
Last night we attempted to watch a meteor shower. We read it happens every year during the second week of August. But it had to compete with a full moon & lots of clouds. We did see 1 meteor…making our total sighting of meteors 2 while in Jamaica!! But mostly we just picked out funny things we saw in the clouds. First there was a frog. Then he morphed into a shark. I told Brandon it was the shark sea god warning him not to mess with stingrays & to be nicer to the puffer fish.
We ended the evening dancing together in the room. Brandon promised he will always dance with me in a room, whenever I want him to. He is such a wonderful man & I am the luckiest person in the world to have him as my best friend for life!!
Today we are spending the day at Dolphin Cove. It should be exciting. I am truly looking forward to swimming with the dolphins. I figure when it’s over, they’ll probably convince us to each pay $80 extra for the pictures. It’s a once in a lifetime thing. I just won’t want to pay my Discover Card when I get home. :-/
Ohhhh…I almost forgot. Yesterday we watched a Carnival cruise ship come in to port & leave. It was massive. I have decided I might just be a cruise girl after all. Perhaps that will be our next vacation.
